How We Review Pre Workout Supplements

Every pre workout review on this site follows a consistent, rigorous process. We believe you deserve to know exactly how we evaluate the products we recommend, so here is a complete breakdown of our testing methodology.

Our Testing Process

Product Acquisition

We purchase every pre workout at full retail price from authorized retailers or the brand's own website. We never accept free samples, gifted products, or brand-sponsored shipments. This ensures our reviews are free from any obligation to the manufacturer and that we are evaluating the same product you would receive as a consumer.

Testing Methodology

Each product is tested for a minimum of two weeks during real training sessions. This gives us enough time to evaluate both immediate effects and longer-term consistency. Our testing covers the following areas:

  • Energy and performance: We track workout intensity, endurance, and perceived exertion across multiple training sessions including both strength and conditioning work.
  • Taste evaluation: Each flavor is evaluated on its own merits, noting sweetness level, aftertaste, and overall drinkability. We test with the recommended water volume.
  • Mixability assessment: We check for clumping, grittiness, and residue using a standard shaker bottle with no blender ball, since that is how most people mix their pre workout.
  • Energy and crash tracking: We monitor the onset of energy, peak intensity, duration, and any crash or jitters throughout the session and into the hours after training.
  • Pump and focus: Subjective but consistent assessment of muscle fullness, vascularity, and mental clarity during training.

Timeline

From purchase to published review, each product takes approximately three to four weeks. Two weeks of testing are followed by ingredient analysis, scoring, photography, and writing. We do not rush reviews to be first; we take the time needed to be thorough.

Independence

Our editorial independence is the foundation of this site. Here is what that means in practice:

  • All products are purchased with our own funds at retail price.
  • We do not accept brand sponsorships, paid placements, or manufacturer-funded reviews.
  • No brand has editorial input or review approval before publication.
  • Affiliate links are clearly disclosed on every page where they appear. These links help fund our testing but never influence our scores or rankings.

Our goal is to be the resource we wished existed when we started training: honest, transparent, and actually useful.
